Smartvue eliminates complexity and costs associated with IP video. Smartvue is the only professional grade IP video solution that can be installed in only minutes without IT or surveillance expertise. Indoor and outdoor cameras are placed in location and the wireless Smartvue network video recorder is plugged into the network (or standalone without network or PC). The system automatically locates cameras within its own closed wireless network and automatically sets up IP addresses, security settings, and if connected to a network, enables remote PC or cell phone access on most networks - all within minutes.
Smartvue offers up to 10 times better wireless range. Smartvue is the only IP video solution that uses 802.11N draft wireless cameras for true plug and play installation that can replace many wired applications. Current customers run cameras at ranges from 800’ indoors to a quarter of a mile and more outdoors. Most other IP video cameras use 802.11 ab/g which offers significantly less wireless range and throughput. Smartvue’s MIMO (multiple input multiple output) technology is a compelling new approach that addresses wireless IP video challenges of range, reliability, signal fading, interference and limited spectrum. Smartvue is the only IP video camera to use multiple antenna techniques that increase spectral capacity by delivering two or more times the peak data rate of a system per channel or per spectrum. For example, Smartvue delivers speeds of 108Mbps in 17MHz of spectrum (6.35 Mbps/MHz). This compares to the peak capacity of 802.11a/g (even with beam-forming or diversity) which delivers only 54Mbps in 17MHz of spectrum (3.18 Mbps/MHz), or to channel bonding techniques that transmit 108Mbps in 40MHz of spectrum (2.7 Mbps/MHz). Smartvue also delivers at least 2X the capacity over other systems that use multiple "smart" antennas.
Smartvue delivers better quality video using half the bandwidth and storage. Smartvue IP cameras were the first in the industry to commercially incorporate H.264 video compression (also known as AVC/MPEG4 part 10) which significantly improves digital video quality while reducing storage requirements and network bandwidth utilization. H.264 can match the best possible MPEG-2 quality at up to half the data rate. H.264 also delivers excellent video quality that is scalable across the entire bandwidth spectrum - from 3G to HD and everything in between (40 Kbps to 10 Mbps+).
Smartvue produces the highest quality video even in difficult lighting conditions. Smartvue offers wireless IP cameras that clearly display both light and dark areas in a single scene using an innovative ultra wide dynamic range (95dB typical, 120dB max) sensor. The Smartvue sensor which also offers 17 bit data capture and progressive scan imaging, converts light to a digital signal at each pixel, enabling each “point” of data in the image to have independent exposure times to deliver the highest image quality and color accuracy. Smartvue's image consistency and accuracy is known for overcoming typical impediments of other cameras, which have trouble producing positive subject identification because of image blooming and smear, as well as limited color fidelity. In addition, most other IP video camera systems produce less than optimal quality video using single aperture capture, lower bit sensors, less efficient compression algorithms (MJPEG and MPEG4) and interlaced imaging.

Smartvue puts zero stress on the network. Smartvue is a network “edge” device. It uses its own secure wireless network to send video data directly from the cameras to the Smartvue wireless recorders. This system does not require video to be transmitted over the network for storage. Most IP video systems require cameras on the network which send bandwidth intensive video data to the network video storage device. This puts stress on the network, requires stricter security management of the cameras and network video recorder, and increases network maintenance and management resources.
Common IP Video Installation
Smartvue “Edge Device” Installation
Smartvue offers the very highest security for IP video applications. Only Smartvue offers Securevue technology which enables 128 bit encrypted USB access keys for remote and local access. This patent-pending technology insures only a person with the key in hand can view live or recorded video. Most other IP camera systems are accessed with common username and password systems. Smartvue also incorporates leading government grade AES hardware security and WPA software encryption in a closed network that is Linux based. In addition, the system hides its SSID to help prevent wireless video hacking. These extra levels of security keep video and business intelligence secure. Most other wireless IP video cameras use software encryption only and publish public SSIDs. Many network video recorders are Windows based.
Smartvue eliminates wireless interference. Smartvue operates in the 5GHz spectrum using MIMO technology to eliminate interference with most existing wireless networks and devices. The majority of other wireless IP video cameras operate in the 2.4GHz spectrum (802.11 b/g) and are open to interference with common technologies in this frequency range (such as other 802.11b/g networks, microwaves, cell phones and wireless phones).
Smartvue offers “wireless” camera power. Only Smartvue offers patent-pending Trackvue camera mounts for “snap in place” camera installation to almost any existing track lighting. Cameras are snapped to the track and power for the camera is drawn from the track. This also enables camera mobility as cameras can be moved on the track to where they are needed most. For example in retail environments where displays and layout change with the seasons, cameras can be moved accordingly. Most other IP video cameras are permanently mounted with camera mounting brackets that are screwed into walls or ceilings. In addition to installing the camera mount, cables must be run for both video and power.
Smartvue works on practically any PC in most all browsers - with no software to install. Smartvue solutions are standards based Linux systems that run in almost any browser on either Windows or Apple. Most all other IP video camera systems only work in the latest version of Internet Explorer or require software to be installed on the Windows client computer and do not run in a browser.
Smartvue offers instant remote access for free from almost any PC or cell phone. Only Smartvue offers solutions that offer remote access within minutes. Simply plug the solution into almost any Internet connected network and login to www.insightserver.com from anywhere at anytime to remotely manage the system as well as access live and recorded video from almost any PC or cell phone. Smartvue utilizes innovative NAT reversal technologies to enable it to work with most common networks and firewalls. InsightServer is a free service for all Smartvue customers. Most other IP video solutions require IT expertise and network administration as well as hours of efforts to enable remote access.

Smartvue offers accurate “plug and play” video analytics. Only Smartvue offers a plug and play wireless video analytics solution with integrated point and click reporting. The innovative Intellivue video analytics run inside the camera and automatically adjust themselves for true human detection in almost any environment. Unlike many other video analytics systems, Intellivue is not motion detection based; it is true human detection, offering significantly higher accuracy. For example, the Smartvue system handles occlusion (when a person is blocked from sight by another person) by tracking a unique ID for the blocked person and estimating where they are even though they cannot be seen by the camera. The built-in reporting and point and click data export makes “visual business intelligence” fast and easy. Most other IP video analytics solutions require customization and run analytics in the recording device, not the camera, for less accurate, less scalable, and delayed data that also puts more stress on networks.
